Punta Ala is a beautiful marina located on south-central coast of Tuscany. It can be reached from the railway station of Follonica and Grosseto in about 15 minutes. It is about an hour from Pisa Airport and an hour and a half from Florence. Punta Ala is located at the southern end of the Gulf of Follonica and is the starting point of a long and beautiful beach equipped with several bathing establishments.
For sport lovers, there is a beautiful golf course with panoramic sea views, a polo field, horse riding and other smaller facilities. The port was built in a bay around which were built houses, shops and restaurants. A large shipyard gives assistance to boats as well as water sports equipment you can buy in various specialist outlets. Punta Ala is the home of the Yachting Club of the same name which has provided support for the Luna Rossa America's Cup racing.
Located in the southern end of the harbour, a small, comfortable beach with a beautiful view of the islet of Sparviero. Punta Ala has dozens of villas surrounded by greenery, several luxury hotels including one with a stunning view of the harbor, a shopping centre and a convenience store. From the nautical point of view, it has more than eight hundred berths of all sizes. The prevailing winds in the summer are the Sirocco and Mistral.
Punta Ala is set in an ideal position to reach the main islands of the archipelago as it is almost equidistant from the extreme islands. The archipelago consists of seven islands. Elba is the third largest Italian island in terms of land area. To the south, Giglio with neighboring Giannutri is frequented mainly by cruise passengers coming from Argentario. To the north Capraia, closer to Livorno and Cecina, is often used as a springboard to reach Corsica. The remaining three do not allow us to dock as Montecristo is a nature reserve, Pianosa was the site of a maximum security prison and still has probation facilities for a few prisoners, while Gorgona is still home to a penitentiary.
